🕉️ Original (Bengali/Hindi transliteration):

हरि हरि बिफले जन्म गोनाइनु
मनुष्य-जनम पाइय्या, राधा-कृष्ण न भजिय्या,
जानिया सुनिया बिष खाइनु

गोलोकेर प्रेम-धन, हरि-नाम-संकीर्तन,
रति न जनमिलो कने ताय
संसर- बिषानले, दिन-रात हिया ज्वाले,
वरैत न कोइनों उपाय

बृजेन्द्र-नंदन जेई, साची-सुता होइलों सेई,
बलराम होइलों निताई
दीन-हीन जत चिलो, हरि-नामे उद्धारिलो,
तारा साक्षी जुगाइ माघाई

हा हा प्रभु नंद-सुता, वृषभानु-सुता-जुता,
करुना करो हो एइबारो
नरोत्तम-दास कोय, ना थेलिए रोङ्गा पाय,
तोमा बिनै के आछे आमर

🌱 English Transliteration:

Hari Hari biphale janama gonāinu,
Manuṣya-janama pāiyā, Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa nā bhajiya,
Jāniyā suniya biṣa khāinu.

Golokera prema-dhana, hari-nāma-saṅkīrtana,
Rati nā janmilo kene tāy.
Saṁsāra-biṣānale, dibā-niśi hiya jwale,
Varaitā nā koinu upāya.

Brajendra-nandana yei, Śaci-sutā hoilo sei,
Balarāma hoilo Nitāi.
Dīna-hīna yata chilo, hari-nāme uddhārilo,
Tāra sākṣī Jagāi-Mādhāi.

Hā hā prabhu Nanda-suta, Vṛṣabhānu-sutā-yuta,
Karuṇā karoho ei-bāro.
Narottama-dāsa koy, nā ṭheliho rāṅgā pāy,
Tomā bine ke āche āmāra.

🕉️ Full English Translation

1. O Hari, I have wasted this life.
   Even after receiving this human birth, I did not serve Radha‑Krishna, yet I knowingly consumed poison.
2. The wealth of divine love from Goloka, Krishna’s kingdom, descends in the congregational chanting.
   Yet, why did I not feel attraction toward it? My heart burns day and night in the fire of material poison
   and I have found no way to relieve it.
3. Krishna, son of King Nanda, is now the son of Śacī;
   Balarama has appeared as Nityānanda.
   All wretched souls, howsoever low, have been delivered by Hari‑nama—
   and the proof? The transformation of Jagai and Madhai.
4. Alas! O son of Nanda, accompanied by the daughter of Vṛṣabhānu (Rādhā),
   show me compassion this time! Narottama Dasa says,
   “Do not push me away from Your lotus feet—
   who else do I have but You?”

💖 Bhavarth (Deeper Feeling & Reflection)

This isn’t just a lament. It’s the soul’s cry:

• Human life is rare, yet I squandered it.
• I ignored the most precious gift—service to Radha‑Krishna, and poisoned myself by intention.
• The sound of the holy name—a direct thread from Goloka—is available to free us, yet I was not attracted.
• I burned in material anguish day and night, but never sought the remedy—which was so near.
• Krishna’s kindness proves that even the worst souls—like Jagai and Madhai—can be saved.
• And so Narottama, with tears in his heart, prays with humility: “Please don’t reject me, Lord. I have nowhere else to go.”

🌿 Why This Bhajan Touches the Heart

• It calls us to honesty about our lives.
• It awakens urgency, not despair.
• It reminds of the potency of Hari‑nāma sankīrtana.
• It assures that Mercy is real—even for the fallen.
• It directs us to seek refuge at Krishna’s lotus feet—nothing else matters.

🕯️ How To Chant & Use This Bhajan

• Sing after evening arati.
• Chant softly in your heart when feeling lost.
• Use it to open your session of kirtan or japa.
• Chant with sincerity, not performance. Let each syllable enter your heart.

🌹 A Simple Prayer After Chanting

“Krishna, I admit my mistake. My heart burns with sorrow, yet I have no shelter but Your mercy. Please accept me, please show compassion. I want only You. Protect me from distraction and forgetfulness. Let this life be for Your service.”
