Kanthi is not a matter of wearing a thread around your neck. It’s rather saying Krishna or “Promosing Krishna” тАУ “Prabhu, ab main aapka hoon.” ЁЯТЫ”Prabhu I am your’s” The moment we put it on, our body becomes His temple, and we vow to maintain it to be pure.
Now sincerelyтАж onion & garlic may taste nice ЁЯЩД but they are of no use to us in bhakti. Ayurveda declares that they’re rajasik and tamasik тАФ they play with our mind, make us lazy, angry, and full of unwanted desires. Even science concursтАж they hyper stimulate the nervous system and agitate the mind. And bro/sis, if we are restless in the mind, how will we chant in peace?ЁЯди
тАЬEating onion and garlic may not be considered a sin, but the scriptures clearly advise against it.тАЭ
The scriptures already teach us:
“рдЖрд╣рд╛рд░рд╢реБрджреНрдзреМ рд╕рддреНрддреНрд╡рд╢реБрджреНрдзрд┐рдГ, рд╕рддреНрддреНрд╡рд╢реБрджреНрдзреМ рдзреНрд░реБрд╡рд╛ рд╕реНрдореГрддрд┐рдГред
Ahaarsudho Sattvasudhih , Sattvasudho Dhruva smritih
Pure food = pure mind. Pure mind = steady remembrance of God.
Visualize this way: One’s body is a mandir ЁЯЫХ, and the kanthi is similar to the flag on the top. Do we actually want to fill onion-garlic inside Mandir ” Temple”
As saints put it:
“рддрди рдордВрджрд┐рд░, рдорди рдкреБрдЬрд╛рд░реА, рдФрд░ рдирд╛рдо рд╣реА рд╣реИ рджреАрдк рд╣рдорд╛рд░рд╛ред”
“Tan Mandir, Man pujari, Aur hi hai Deep Hamara “
So honestly, by giving up onion & garlic after wearing kanthi, weтАЩre not losing anythingтАж weтАЩre actually gaining peace, clarity, devotion, and most importantly тАФ KrishnaтАЩs blessings. ЁЯзбтЬи
